Besiktas is set to sign Vincent Aboubakar following his departure from Al Nassr following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, in a move that could secure Wout Weghorst’s transfer to Manchester United.
The Saudi Arabian club terminated Aboubakar’s contract to make way for Ronaldo as Saudi League rules state clubs can only field up to eight foreign players per team.
His availability now has alerted the former Besiktas and the Turkish outfit could bring the Cameroon captain back to the club, where he has been for two previous spells. Which, in an ironic twist, could benefit Man Utd’s search for strikers.

Aboubakar’s arrival would be seen as a replacement for Wout Weghorst, who could break his loan spell in Turkey and join United, after talks began with Burnley over a loan move for the Dutchman.
Weghorst has scored nine goals in 18 games for Besiktas this season, including one against Kasimpasa on Saturday, where he waved to fans as a sign of farewell to the club.
The 30-year-old is eager for a second chance in the Premier League after scoring just twice in 20 games following his move to Turf Moor in January 2022.
