NBA legend LeBron James is no stranger to going viral with his insane skills, but he may have some competition after a video of an Australian granny completely dominated a walking basketball game was seen by more than 6.5 million people.
There were shades of the late Kobe Bryant’s signature breakthrough move before the newly minted star — known only as Jules — completed a flawless layup in a video posted to Geelong United Basketball’s (GUB) TikTok account.
Jules, who clearly has quite the basketball pedigree if her skills have anything to prove, wasn’t content with going viral just once.
The GUB account called it “one of the nastiest rip-throughs we’ve seen in walking basketball.”
In another match, her jump shot technique was in full swing, with the senior even fading backwards a la LeBron or Steph Curry as the ball whipped through the net.
Curry’s jump shot is legendary, while James’ monstrous athleticism is fully revealed when he launches himself into a layup.
Jules has racked up an incredible 8.7 million views for her slick moves on the pitch, and it seems to be an absolute nightmare for her hapless opponents.
She even caught the attention of the 247basketball TikTok account, which jokingly welcomed her to the University of Maine’s legendary women’s basketball program.
‘Welcome to the team, a great first step man. There may be some eligibility issues, but we’ll get over that… we’re going to call you Betty. Welcome to the team Betty,’ laughed the viral performer.
Basketball fans also loved Jules/’Betty’s’ fire jump shot and skills.
“She still really has it,” commented one user, who was liked by nearly 108,000 people, while another laughed that her rip-through was “the move that made LeBron cry.”
Many users were quick to compare Geelong player Jules to NBA legend LeBron James
“She used all her stamina at once,” wrote one of the popular game NBA 2K, with many convinced that Jules “definitely played basketball in her day.”
Jules may even have a new nickname, with one user suggesting she’s a “midcourt maestro.”
Walking basketball is a softer form of the sport aimed at inclusion for older players and has one simple rule: don’t run!
One of Jules’ opponents tried to call her after the lay-up, but we’ve given the move a double thumbs up here at the Daily Mail Australia office; with another TikTok user who also spot the travel suggestion!
Geelong United Basketball is “Australia’s largest regional community basketball organization,” according to its Facebook page, and hosts walking basketball and senior competitions, among other things.
Looks like it’s absolutely ON for young and old in ‘The Pivot’ city.
