Justin Hodges keeps Paul Gallen super-fight dream alive as NRL legend beats ‘Australia’s next Jake Paul’ in heavyweight brawl

- The 40-year-old took on internet star Jordan Simi in a four-round match
- Hodges looked ungainly, but fought his way to a decision win
Justin Hodges trudged to a four-round win over internet star Jordan Simi in a fight that did little to whet the appetite for a super fight against Paul Gallen.
Simi had made headlines after the podcaster – nicknamed ‘Australia’s next Jake Paul’ – said he was fighting to win back his ex-girlfriend Sammy Robinson in the event of a win over the NRL legend.
And the 30-year-old certainly didn’t disgrace himself over the course of the four-round battle, showing decent footwork while parrying the vast majority of Hodges’ power punches.

However, it was ring check and pressure from the former Broncos star that caught the eye of the judges, who awarded the 40-year-old his third win on the bounce.
Despite his poor performance, Hodges argued for a super fight against former Australian heavyweight title challenger Gallen in a fight that saw the former Sharks captain recruit the heavy favorite.
“I’ve got one fight left, I agreed, Gal agreed. We’ve placed a bet on who will win Origin, so now he has to get his ass to Queensland,” he said into the ring.
Hodges desperate for a super fight with Paul Gallen but looked slow in Sydney
“He’s got a pretty big head, hopefully I can catch him. I go into every fight with confidence, I train with my guts, I am a man I will confront face to face, but they have to bring it to Queensland because we won the Origin.”
Hodges taunted the Sydney crowd, saying, ‘Who won the Origin? On to the Maroons. Boo boo all you want, shut up.
“If I had a hat on I’d take it off for Simi, he’s a strong guy, the second man I’ve ever fought as a southpaw, a lot of people don’t know I didn’t have any luggage for the past few days, but Simi went and got me some stuff to keep me warm, real sir.
“I knew he was coming to prepare, I think he’s been putting the spotlight on boxing for the past two weeks.”
