Belgium’s quest for World Cup glory in Qatar reached a new low as Morocco cruised to a 2-0 victory over Roberto Martinez’s talented side on Sunday.
Belgium gave up a chance to top group f and qualify for the World Cup round of 16 with Morocco beating the European nation’s stars in all areas of the pitch.
Belgium’s so-called ‘golden generation’ seemed lifeless, disinterested and lacking in ideas, while their African opponents took the opportunity to score twice late on to take their points tally to four.

Real Madrid’s Champions League-winning goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois received isolated criticism after the match as Belgian fans criticized the goalkeeper’s disastrous outing on football’s biggest stage.
Morocco deserved their goals for a dominant attacking performance with Abdelhamid Sabiri and Zakaria Aboukhlal both on the scoreboard.
Social media was stunned after the dismantling of Belgium as disappointed soccer fans raged at Courtois for not doing enough to stop either strike.

One post called the goalkeeper’s performance ‘stinky’ as they focused on his inability to get a hand into Sabiri’s shot and keep the score level.

While other fans derisively joked that Courtois was now getting the “recognition” he deserved in a taunt over the goalkeeper’s frustrated suggestions that he didn’t get the credit he deserved.
Courtois will undoubtedly continue as Belgium’s No. 1 when they face Croatia in their final World Cup group game, who need a win to qualify for the round of 16.


Other disgruntled viewers directed their general disappointment at Belgium’s failed stars amid calls for national team coach Roberto Martinez to resign immediately.
Some even suggested that Martinez was to blame for wasting Belgium’s current crop of stars who have not lived up to the expectations placed on them.


The stunned fans even insisted that the loss to Morocco marked the end of the country’s failed ‘golden generation’.
Another fan joked that Belgium is an ‘incredible’ team but they just need to work on their passing, shooting, movement, crosses and basically everything else it takes to be successful.
