The trailer for Fast X, the penultimate chapter in the Fast & Furious film series, was released on Friday.

Franchise regulars like Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jason Statham appeared in the nearly four-minute clip alongside some new additions to the series.

Notably absent from the film was Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who played a character in several films but has a long-standing feud with Diesel.

The Fast X trailer opens with Diesel’s Dominic Toretto surrounded by his surrogate family of fighters and racers.

His grandmother, Abuela Toretto (Rita Moreno), rises from the table and congratulates her grandson on building the family despite so many obstacles.

Toretto’s wife Letty (Rodriguez) asks Dominic what he thinks, and he explains that he is worried about losing someone he loves, especially his son Brian (Leo Abelo Perry).

The film then cuts to a message for Toretto from Dante (Momoa), the son of one of Toretto’s former adversaries.

“You’re about to learn all about fear,” he says before blowing up a Humvee on a cobblestone street.

The trailer then takes viewers back to the events of Fast Five when Dante’s father was killed by Dominic and Brian O’Conner (the late Paul Walker).

While telling Dominic that he stole his family and future from him, he also threatens him saying he’s going to ‘break’ Toretto’s.

Dante then blows up a huge portion of a populated city, raising his arms in a triumphant gesture.

The trailer introduces Brie Larson’s character, Tess, a secret government agent who wars Toretto about the dangers he faces.

The race then leads into a lengthy montage in which the various members of Toretto’s crew take down armored trucks and even helicopters while in their muscle cars.

Deckard Shaw (Statham) shows off some powerful martial arts moves as he battles several men who come out with machine guns before asking Lue if he can still ride.

‘What do you think?’ he responds confidently as a shot plays from him as he drifts around a corner.

Dante kidnaps Brian, and Dominic chases after him, telling him over the radio, “You’ll never be able to break my family.”

The trailer ends with Letty waking up next to Cipher (Charlize Theron), a hacker from the previous two installments in the series.

The pair fight with Letty appearing to land a knockout blow at the end.

He previously expressed his displeasure with the way the set was performed. In a now-deleted Instagram post, Johnson expressed his grievances.

“There is no other franchise that makes my blood boil more than this one,” he wrote. “My female costars are always amazing and I love them. My male costars, however, are a different story. Some act like stand-up men and true professionals, while others don’t. Those who don’t are too chicken (sh*t) to do anything about it anyway. Sweets.’

When Diesel asked to return in an online post, Johnson turned it down, saying instead that he felt he was being manipulated because Diesel mentioned the name of his late co-star Paul Walker.

“Vin’s recent public post was an example of his manipulation,” he said in a CNN interview. “I didn’t like him raising his kids in the post, as well as Paul Walker’s death. Leave them out.’

While Johnson won’t be back, another superstar actor could join the series for the 11th Fast & Furious movie if Diesel has his way.

On Thursday, Diesel said he wants Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. the role of villain plays in the last chapter of the series.

“Without telling you too much about what happens in the future, there’s a character who is the antithesis of Dom promoting AI and self-driving cars and a philosophy that fulfills your freedom with it,” he said. Variety.

He added: “There is someone who believes this is the future, and that is contrary to the Toretto mentality.”

For her part, Rodriguez offered the name Matt Damon as a possible addition to the cast. Damon has experience in a big budget action franchise, having played Jason Bourne in the Bourne series.

Fast X is scheduled for release on May 19, 2023.
