Rian Johnson has recounted how Angela Lansbury “couldn’t have been more charming and generous” when filming a cameo for Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
The late actress, who died in October 2022 at age 96, makes her final film appearance in the Netflix movie and director Rian was delighted she agreed to take part.

Angela’s cameo shows her playing the ‘Among Us’ computer game, but Rian explained that she was ‘not a gamer’.
He added: ‘And she was very patient in letting me describe the rules of Among Us, up to a point. At that point she just said, ‘You know what? Just tell me what the lines are. I’ll trust you.’
Rian also arranged for Stephen Sondheim to film a cameo, before his death in November 2021 at age 91, admitting that they both surprised him.

He said: ‘I allowed myself to have that awkward little moment of telling them what I’m sure everyone who knows them says. But still, it felt really good to tell them that I wouldn’t be here doing this if it wasn’t for them.
“It’s sad, because as a fan, I wish they were still around and doing stuff. I hope you enjoyed the little scene and laughed at it.’
Explaining about working with Sondheim, he added: “I mentioned to him that we were trying to get Angela Lansbury. And he said, ‘Oh, Angie, I’m a friend of hers. Tell her I’m doing it. She’ll do it.’

Actress Natasha Lyonne added: “Needless to say, these were gigantic losses of two incredible lives well lived. I guess we’ll only know if I make it to 90, if I really was worthy to be there with them.

It comes after lead role Kate opened up about her experience filming Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery and how the all-star cast enjoyed wild parties after being on set.
Speaking on NBC’s Today, he said: ‘We had a lot of fun. It was at the height of Delta (the COVID-19 strain) and we were in Belgrade, Serbia, so the producer said, “you’re not leaving this hotel.”
“Which is like a nightmare in itself, but they’d rent the bar upstairs and we’d just, you know, the circus go up there and start drinking.” And when the circus starts drinking, things get weird and we have a lot of fun.
The blonde bombshell also opened up about her character in the movie Birdie Jay and how her name has special appeal to her personally.
She said, ‘Well, my dad calls me, my nickname has always been Birdie. Which is really funny, you know, Birdie is not a normal nickname, so when I saw the character I was like “oh”.
“And then on set it was fun because I never had that moment where people called me Birdie and it wasn’t my name, you know? I would just answer without even thinking twice.
