Young MA, the Brooklyn-born rapper known for the 2016 multi-platinum-winning song “Ooouuu,” shares a health update after a viral video caused concern in the hip hop community.
“As many of my followers know, I have been dealing with various personal health issues in recent years,” the lyricist, whose real name is Katorah Kasanova Marrero, shared in instagram Wednesday night.
“I was recently hospitalized and successfully treated for various conditions,” she shared. “I’m better now, it will take some time, but I’m on the road to recovery and I’m looking forward to the future.”
A clip of the openly gay MC surfaced on social media this week, showing her with yellow eyes and discolored skin while visiting a barbershop. The clip caused a lot of concern among her fans.
While Young MA did not reveal any specific details about exactly what ailments he has been dealing with, he assured fans not to worry.
“I’m in a good mood and everything will be explained in MUSIC… as well as a documentary,” he joked.
Some fans have suggested that the 30-year-old rapper could be suffering from jaundice, which is when the whites of the eyes turn yellow. One of the causes of jaundice is cirrhosis of the liver.
In June 2021, Young MA announced on Instagram in a now-deleted post that he had checked herself into rehab to “lose this addiction,” however, he did not share exactly what type of addiction he was struggling with.
Although she has strongly denied drug abuse in the past, many of her lyrics talk about binge drinking.
