The family of a 16-year-old girl who allegedly stabbed her own father to death at Christmas has broken their silence to hit back at evil trolls.

Emergency services were called to a house on Petherton Rd in Adelaide’s Andrews Farm just after 2:50am on Boxing Day after reports of a domestic violence.

A 55-year-old man was found at the scene with life-threatening injuries and was transported to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with stab wounds.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, later died of his injuries and the charge of attempted murder by his daughter was upgraded to murder.

But trolls jumped on reports of the death to make wildly baseless allegations of abuse against the father who family members say was a “good man.”

Now a family member has told Daily Mail Australia: “We don’t know what the reason was, but we know he would never do what people have accused him of.”

Another family member added, “That man would do anything for that girl.

“He didn’t deserve this. He loved his daughter and lived for her.’

The comments come after social media was flooded with speculation about why the teen allegedly assaulted her father.

Some suggested without reason or evidence that the father might have abused her.

Others made sick jokes about the teen’s disappointed reaction to her Christmas presents that led to the alleged attack.

The 16-year-old was arrested at the scene, with footage from 7 News capturing the moment of her arrest.

She is seen handcuffed and in a Jim Beam tank top is escorted off the scene by police officers.

Both her hands were covered with brown paper bags typically used to prevent evidence from being compromised.

The girl was bundled into a police paddy wagon before being driven from the scene as neighbors watched.

She was refused bail to appear in Adelaide Youth Court, where she will be charged with murder.

The girl’s mother and the deceased father’s wife are said to be struggling to cope with the tragedy. A family member admitted, “She’s not doing well.”
